Croton plants (Codiaeum variegatum) are amazingly varied plants commonly grown as houseplants. In the indoors croton plant has a reputation for being fussy, but in fact, if you know how to care for the croton plant properly, it can make a hard to kill plant indoors.
Gold Dust Croton is well known and loved for its bright and beautiful leaves. Its green leaves are dotted with golden color hence the name golden dust. It is a slow grower and does well when placed in a group with other crotons or other plants needing similar light and water. This plant is of medium height thus making it a just the right choice for any space.
Plant thrives in well drained moist soil. Cut the dead leaves off the main stem if necessary. To maintain a coherent look, cut down on any length stems if needed. Start with a six-inch container when planting. Croton plants grow in spring, hence you might have to repot it to one size up. Pots should have drainage holes.
Like many houseplants, caring for a croton involves proper watering and humidity. Since it is a tropical plant, it does benefit from high humidity, so placing it on a pebble tray or regularly misting it will help keep it looking its best.
